Signals come in. Television goes out.

The complete TV headend. Software first.

Receive HLS, SRT, RTMP or MPEG-TS. Deliver MPEG-TS multicast to set-top boxes, or DVB-C on the coaxial cable already in the walls. Install it on a Linux server you already own β€” or buy it ready to plug in on one of our fanless boxes.

What it does

The whole signal path, end to end.

Castmux sits between the content you buy and the sockets you already have.

Signals arrive from the internet as SRT, HLS, RTMP or UDP, from another headend as MPEG-TS over UDP multicast or HTTP, or on site from your own barker channel, a camera or an encoder. Castmux receives them, prepares the transport stream, and delivers them to the building as UDP multicast over the LAN, or as DVB-C on the existing coaxial cable.
The whole system. One process on one machine β€” yours or ours.

How does it work?

One process, one web page.

No separate ingest server, muxer, modulator tool or monitoring stack.

πŸ“₯

Receiving content

  • HLS, with the quality rung you choose
  • SRT, with latency set from measured RTT
  • RTMP from a local encoder
  • MPEG-TS over UDP multicast or HTTP, for example from another headend
  • roadmap RTP, RTSP and satellite, terrestrial or cable tuner input
πŸ“€

Delivering content

  • MPEG-TS over UDP multicast or unicast
  • DVB-C multiplexes via numerous DVB modulator brands
  • Original PIDs, every audio language
  • Subtitles and teletext passed through
πŸ“Š

Keeping it on air

  • Bitrate measured off the wire, not reported
  • Live viewer counts per channel
  • Only streams what somebody is watching
  • Says when the network is the fault

The software

One web page runs the whole headend.

Add a channel, watch it in the browser, and see what is actually leaving the network port. No command line, no configuration files to hand-edit.

Channel management screen: one card per channel with source, destination, live bitrate, uptime and viewer count.
Channels β€” source, destination, live bitrate, viewers and logs on one card.
DVB-C screen: multiplexes shown by frequency, with channels dragged and dropped between them.
DVB-C β€” drag channels between frequencies, with live capacity per multiplex.
